I listened to Stuck Together (Trouble in Texas #3) by Mary Connealy because I enjoyed her first two books in the series and wanted to have more humor in my life. The narrator, Barbara McCulloh, is one of my favorite historical Western romance narrators, and made me want to listen to another lively story and learn more about the history of Texas.
I liked the cover of Stuck Together and enjoyed studying the pictures of Vince Yates and Tina Cahill, two strong-willed characters at odds with each other over closing the town saloon, which Tina considered a den of iniquity. In chapter 1, Tina applied a literary reference to Dante, Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here, in everyday life by nailing a board across the front door of the saloon.
Moreover, I appreciated the emotional honesty throughout Connealy’s writing and how the unwed Tina experienced envy not only toward Glenna’s outward beauty but also toward her inner happiness resulting from a joyful marriage.
If you enjoy historical fiction and romance, you will likely appreciate Stuck Together (Trouble in Texas #3) by Mary Connealy, as well as her equally humorous Westerns, including Swept Away (Trouble in Texas #1) and Fired Up (Trouble in Texas #2). Other historical romantic Westerns you may enjoy include When Love Blooms by Robin Lee Hatcher, Through Dust & Ashes by Lynnette Bonner, The Lady’s Mine by Francine Rivers, A Woman Called Sage, and Under a Desert Sky by DiAnn Mills.
