A writer friend recommended Tracie Peterson as a historical fiction writer, so I purchased the audiobook A Constant Love (The Hope of Cheyenne #1). The opening dialogue and conflict caught my attention and provided a consistent thread of trouble brewing throughout the narrative.
One of my favorite things about this book is that Barbara McCulloh is the narrator of the audiobook and her voice and inflection provided me with hours of listening pleasure. Chapter 16 is a critical chapter because Peterson presented a strategic plot complication that made Charlotte Aldrich’s life more difficult. Moreover, the mother-daughter relationship touched me. The closeness between these two women carried the protagonist past her troubles and kept me engaged until the end.
